Deluxe Fingerless Mitts

The Size:
These fingerless gloves will fit an average adult woman's hand. Simple cables insure a good fit at the wrist.

Berroco Suede Deluxe - 2 skeins
US Size 7 double pointed needles
Stitch marker
Cable hook

The Gauge:
6.5 sts/in over petite 4x1 rib pattern

The Pattern Stitch:
Front Cable (CF4)
Rows 1, 2 and 4: *P1, K4* repeat * to * around
Row 3: "P1, CF4* repeat around

CF4: slip 2 sts to cable hook and hold in front, k2, k2 sts from cable hook

The Knitting:
Cuff: Cast on 45 (40) stitches. Distribute evenly over three double point needles taking care not to twist. Work Front Cable Pattern four times.

Thumb Gusset: Round 1: make 1 as if to purl, make 1 as if to knit (2 stitches made), purl 1 (these four stitches start the gusset), place marker, work remaining round in 4 x 1 rib pattern (knit 4, purl 1, repeat)
Round 2: purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, slip marker and continue in pattern around.
Round 3: P1, make 1, k1, make 1, purl 1, slip marker and continue in pattern around.
Round 4: p1, k3, p1, slip marker and continue in pattern around.
Round 5: P1, make 1, k3, make 1, purl 1, slip marker and continue in pattern around.

Continue knitting in pattern increasing two stitches on both edges of gusset every second round. Work in this manner until the gusset has 17 stitches before the marker. End the gusset as follows: bind off 16 stitches, purl 1, remove marker and continue knitting round in pattern. Connect needles 1 and 3 again to begin palm in round.

Palm: Knit in rib pattern for another inch. Bind off on Round 2 in rib pattern.
